Mrs. Skretting leads both the Division I (grades 1-3) and Division II choir (grades 4 to 6).
Division I choir performs several times during the school season and members will receive notice of each date as soon as bookings are confirmed. The usual dress code for choir is black pants and a long sleeved white top, but may change. Dark shoes and socks should also be available for stage performances. Green V's or vests are often included as part of the performance attire.
Rehearsals are held one day per week during lunch recess. Choir members are expected to attend rehearsals regularly and on time, strive to be attentive to the Director's instructions, and make sincere efforts to develop good choral singing skills.
Older student volunteers are helpful and invited to assist with attendance, collecting name tags and notices, supervising during rehearsals, taking photographs or videos, etc. This is a great way for older students to give back to their Div I Choir.
Division II choir, while demanding a greater level of participation, pays back with invaluable experience with harmonies, multiple melodies and increased complexity of songs.
Students gather on Monday and Thursday noon hours to rehearse. Please note details on performance dress requirements and any other pertinent information. You can also receive notifications right to your phone or email with REMIND.
Each year's activities vary, but often include touring local seniors' residences, performing with the Lethbridge Symphony Orchestra and competing as a choral group for the Lethbridge Music and Choral Speech Festival. Every three years the group goes to Choralfest in Calgary where they workshop with professional choir directors and share their love of choral music with other choirs from southern Alberta.
Please pay attention to announcements regarding rehearsal times, performance dress requirements, and any other pertinent information.
At the end of each year, the group performs its collection of songs with the Division I choir for parents and friends.
